FIGMENT Geelong Attracts International Spy
Our open call for submission is attracting a lot of attention, from nearby and afar!
Oakland, California’s best known Conceptual Artist, Spy Emerson, has joined the May 30 event to present new her new project “Hops with Cops." Emerson’s socially engaging, interactive work generates conversations about challenging subjects. Using renegade techniques in combination with multiple mediums, Emerson creates projects that address social issues with humor.
Regarding her new work “Hops with Cops” Emerson said, “…Ghandi's great words, ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ rattle around in my head like a sneaker in a washing machine. In an attempt to counter the violent police clashes at home (Oakland, California), I’d like to exemplify and dramatize in the most positive way, interactions with your Victorian police, completely un self-conscious and laughing. I want to stage a happening, a very sincere coming together."
Sounds like a great FIGMENT project! What are you bringing to FIGMENT this year?
